One of the luckiest finds in all my years of extensive travel, was Jean-Pierre Mouligne, recommended to me by Swift Yacht Charters as an experienced captain who could give our 13-year-old grandson a great experience on a large sailboat, on a week-long junket with his grandparents. Not only did J-P treat our grandson with patience, good humor, and friendliness, he gave my husband and me the same treatment. We thoroughly enjoyed being with this gracious Frenchman who knows the waters of Narragansett Bay like the back of his hand, and who made spot-on recommendations as to where we should go each day based on the weather and tides.
He was a knowledgeable tour guide, as well as a calm, enthusiastic captain, who allowed our grandson to do nearly all the work of sailing the boat with instruction and encouragement. J-P and his family live in the area full-time and know all the anchorages well, which benefited us daily. I cannot recommend J-P highly enough for his professional expertise, his skills as a master teacher of sailing and seamanship, and his easy companionship.
